It really sounds like wandering on another planet. It has the right groove and atmosphere for that concept.
I'm kind of curious how you built this track. The picture on your bandcamp page shows a cassette tape, did you record it on cassette? It has a bit of that type of compression, it sounds like the big fat kick is eating away everything else in the track, which makes for a pretty cool effect.
I was kind of hoping for more of a climax at the end, maybe something a bit different from the first section, but it doesn't ruin the track. It's just something that I think would have been better.

CrossCanadian responds:

Dude thanks for the great feedback! Actually the whole concept for the EP and the cassette tape is while I was working on this EP I had made some mp3 clips as teasers, but I lost all my actual editable files when I reset my computer (dumb mistake really). So I sat on these for over a year, and decided to release them as I have on Bandcamp. As far as the creation goes it was just a layering of synths in FL Studio. But going forward I am definitely going to have better production sound and get really fun with this project! I am going to be posting more on Newgrounds soon!

Very interesting combination of genres and they all work quite well together.
Good production, very professional-sounding.

Great track all-around.

KaixoMusic responds:

Thanks!!

I'm 6 years too late, but wanted to say that I'm quite impressed by your work!
It's very accurate to the original, which is impressive because I never released a MIDI or anything.

I might remake the original some day (maybe in 2024, when the new Chinese Year of the Dragon starts) haha.

I think the mix is a bit messy, sometimes it sounds as if the snare just lacks it's transient. I think it's because you're compressing the entire track heavily. Is that true?
I think it would be better if you used techniques like soft-clipping instead, or maybe in combination with light compression.
Always make sure that the drums don't get lost, because they are essentially one of the most important elements in the mix.

I'm not all that familiar with Future Bass, but I assume it's 'slow-paced beats with pulsating pad sounds and heavy basslines, from what I hear on the portal.
I liked the intensity of your track. I think you did pretty good for a track that was made in just a single day. Keep it up!

Noidel responds:

Thank you for your review, I had some presets which are compressed and it can't be changed I was trying to mix it and the sound got less compressed, but not so clear, thank you for responding I gonna fix everything in newer songs, I hope you understanding my respond, I'm not very well with english

You named your song after the most annoying creatures in the world? Haha.
The main synth certainly has a bit of that mosquito timbre. It doesn't sound nearly as annoying, lol.

I like the drums btw, very punchy and snappy. I think the rest of the instruments could be a bit louder, so the drums don't sound as if they are on top of the rest of the music. It will blend nicer together.

Sounds a bit like Propellerheads, Chemical Brothers or Fatboy Slim.

I think the whole track could benefit from an overall tension curve to keep the listener engaged. So more buildups and maybe a breakdown somewhere.

Cool track, though!

DogeGamer16 responds:

Thankyou! I used to listen to a lot of Chemical Brothers and Fatboy Slim

(this is an old track though, probably one of my first)

I think there's too many elements fighting with each other in the track. It doesn't really sound like every element has it's own place in the mix. It feels as if every element is grabbing your attention at once. I would give every element it's own place in the mix, frequency-wise.

In terms of composition and arrangement, I liked it. This would indeed work very well for a GD level, so you really succeeded on that! It has the right buildups and payoffs. Nothing too weird like sudden time-signature shifts, which really helps with the gameplay (I think a player wouldn't want to be thrown off-guard by very sudden shifts in rhythm or anything)

OnlineGraphics responds:

Yeah, that was my biggest criticism from most of my older work but I'm slowly trying to improve my mixing over time. Thanks for the review :).

I'm a bit late (or maybe too early), but uhh Merry christmas! (sorry)

The bass could be louder, so it matches up with the drums more. It will really give the whole track more impact on the drop.
Now that I listen more closely I hear the "Ho ho ho" sample, but I didn't catch that the first time around, so that might be a bit louder too so it doesn't go unnoticed. (Or maybe you wanted it to be a bit more in the background)

Concept-wise I think this track really works. It certainly gives an end-of-year/christmassy/winter-vibe. Very uplifting and melancholic. Good work

Nice! Sounds very Pendulum-esque in the synths and drumwork.

I feel like the drums could be louder. In DnB the drums and bass are usually the loudest.
When the drums hit at around 0:44 it's pretty good, but later that synth becomes much louder than before (was this intentional?)
If it was intentional in order to build a climax, I would do that with something else.. maybe the release of that sound or a filter or something. I wouldn't mess with the overall volume balance that much, maybe a couple of dBs, but not that much.

I did enjoy all the different sounds and it really gave me a trip down memory lane.

I like the first part, it's halftime but it feels like a proper drop and not just an intro.
Nice vibe overall. It has that moody, but melancholic edge to it.
Proper liquid dnb, keep it up
